Pool pumps leak in two ways.
Pool pump not working.
How to troubleshoot pool pump vacuum problems.
First check to see if the pump is getting power and check your timer to make sure the pump is on.
The pool pump motor is not working or turning off while running.
Pump is not pumping water if the pump is not pumping water at all check that all suction and return valves are open and the pump lid is on tight with the lid o ring in place.
Water may leak out or air may be sucked in.
If the pump is on and you are hearing a humming noise it could be a bad capacitor.
The local pool company sold her a new capacitor as that is the most common cause of a pump not starting however i can t imagine a capacitor making a giant bang when it stops working so either they simply don t listen to their customers or they sell them things they don t need.
If your pool pump starts but then shuts off on its own moments later it s often due to overheating.
Other causes of air leaking into the pump is from leaky valves in front of the pump low water level in the pool or a skimmer weir stuck in the up position.
If you neglect the skimmer filter and it gets clogged up the pressure in the water pump will drop.
If your pump is not starting you ll want to check a couple of things.
The easiest thing to do to fix this problem is to lift the skimmer lid take the filter out clean it and then replace it.
Air leaks disrupt the vacuum force of the pump and result in inadequate.
When the pressure drops the pump cannot work efficiently resulting in a pool that gets dirty faster that it can be cleaned.
This is what keeps them primed and sucking water properly.
Check to see if something is inhibiting the fan in the bottom vents like leaves or mulch.
Usually it s because of a bad thread sealant crack in the pump an air leak in the suction line a plumbing issues on the suction side of the pump or a leaky valve stem.
So when they start sucking air that s a problem.
The capacitor is what starts the pump by giving it a jolt of electricity.
